If you happen to be a regular reader of Miss Mother Mom you may remember my post titled "Let's Get Crafty". If not, you can see it here. On one wall you can see a HUGE movie poster of the 1999 film Entrapment starring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Yes, it is a full size, original, theatre release poster. I'd like to share a little story with you regarding this film, Prince Charming and me.
Once upon a time there was a girl. This girl had great family and friends, a job she liked, a house of her own and a cat named Ollie. The only thing missing was someone to share her life with. As with most people, her heart had been broken a few times when she was younger. Because of this the girl had become picky about the guys she would date. Very picky. Friends, family and co-workers had always been helpful in looking out for someone new. There were dates. A few guys who even made it to relationship status. Still, Prince Charming had not been found.
Then one April her Mom kept pushing her to try something new. This was before internet dating and social media and all that. So to make Mom happy the girl decided to give it a try. After a week or so she got a message from this guy who left a phone number and said he would like hear from her. Nervous and skeptical she gave him a call. They spent a couple of hours on the phone. They spoke again the next night and decided to meet for dinner and a movie on Friday that week. April 30.
He asked her to pick a place for dinner and take a look at the movies playing. They had talked so much on the phone that week but she wanted to meet him, being the cautious single lady, instead of him picking her up. Nervous. Excited. He was so nice and sweet on the phone. She pulled up at the restaurant and saw him standing on the sidewalk. Very cute! Casual but nicely dressed. He looked nervous too. Deep breath and here we go. Dinner was great. They talked and talked. He was so funny and entertaining. Going good. He asked about seeing a movie. She suggested Entrapment. It had just come out. Sean Connery was starring. It had a little of everything. Action, romance, drama. He said it sounded great. It was. Afterwards he drove her back to the restaurant to get her car. He asked if she would like to go to a reception the next afternoon. She told him she already had plans. Did not want to seem to eager. He asked if he could call her. She said yes.
Later that night, after she got home, he called. He was just checking to be sure she got home safely. Prince Charming! Two and a half months later he asked her to marry him. July 18. Seven months after that they became husband and wife. March 11. That was the beginning of happily ever after...
Entrapped!

Sir William, Inventor and Chef
It's about 4PM on Thursday. I'm at my desk, finishing up for the day and the phone rings.
"Hello, this is Trish."
"Hi Mom, how are you?"
"Hey. What are you up to?"
"I made a homemade light oven."
"OK... what did you make it out of?"
"I used a shoebox and that Hollywood lamp that gets hot."
"Oh."
"I'm making cookies."
"You know that is probably not a good idea. The box could catch on fire."
"I know where the fire extinguisher is."
"Oh. Still not a good idea."
"But I'm making cookies."
"Where did you get cookie dough?"
"I made it."
"With what?"
"I used the chocolate powdered coffee creamer and water."
"Oh."
"You can have one when you get home?"
"Sounds good. Is your Dad still mowing?"
"Yes."
"Can you wait until I get home?"
"No, they are almost done baking."
"OK. Be careful and I will see you shortly."
Here is a recreation on Saturday of the process.
Oops. Light burned out and we had to finish in the toaster oven.

A Letter to My Mom
MY Mom is the Best Mom ever! It's true, no other can match you. I was not always the easiest child and I can freely admit that now. Now that I'm a Mom. Being a Mom is HARD. Who knew?? (I know, you tried to tell me.) There have been so many times since I became a Mom that I have called you just to say "I'm sorry". Mom, I'm so sorry for everything I did to cause you worry, anger, exasperation as you worked endlessly to raise a good responsible adult. I hope that there were some moments in there that made you proud. You are a Mom with an infinite amount of Love, Patience, Kindness and Selflessness. You were always there when we were growing up. Always the safe place for me, Elizabeth and Jay. You raised three great kids and have managed to stay sane. I love you Mom. I look up to you. I hope that I can be half as good a Mom to William because of everything I learned from you. There are times when I open my mouth and you jump out. It's OK. It's great and it makes me smile. It gives me hope that everything will be OK and I too might be able to raise a good, responsible adult. If I'm really lucky I will keep my sanity also. So, Happy Mother's Day to the Best Mom ever. You are the best because you are my Mom and the very best Mom for me!! I love you!

Time marches on...
I cannot believe that we are already finished with three months of 2013. Where did it go? What have I done? It is all just a blur. I sit here, the eve before my birthday, contemplating the speed with which time moves. Too fast, way too fast! Tomorrow, April 3at 3:38am, I will be 48. No way! That cannot possibly be true! I protest! Who do I call to correct this travesty? As much as I hate to even say that number I know it's true. How do I know? Let me tell you... It was so long ago, but it seems like just yesterday. High school. Yep, that's it. Reunion time. This year is the 30th reunion for the Page High School class of 1983. We have a wonderful planning committee that is already hard at work to make this the best reunion ever. The big weekend will be in October but already the connections are being made, the plans laid out, the anticipation is growing. The committee has set up a Facebook group for us to have a place to share information, memories and plans. A place to connect with friends that many of us have not seen in years. One of our alumni has been very busy pulling our senior yearbook photos and putting them together with a current photo. I can't even tell you how awesome this is. Everyone is loving it. As a whole the class of 1983 has aged very well, we look great! This past weekend I spent a lot of time anticipating the posting of more pics. Every one has been a great joy to see and brought back a flood of memories. So, time marches on but I have a feeling that the next few months will be memorable as I look into the past and remember the good times.

Home is where the heart is...
Fourteen years ago I finally found my "Prince Charming". He looked exactly as I had always imagined when I was growing up (tall, dark and handsome) and was as wonderful as I knew he would be. Todd was very close with his family, always ready to help anyone who needed him and he had a red Dodge Dakota RT that he liked to drag race on the weekends. Prince Charming. Mine! A mere three months later we were engaged and eight months after that we were married. Happily ever after was off to a great start. With a new husband I also gained two little boys, 6 and 7. Two of the cutest, sweetest boys you can imagine. Perfect. After a couple of years I began to hear things. Tic tock, tick tock...the dreaded biological clock. I thought I did not want to have any kids (other than the two I gained) but apparently I was wrong. I decided that I very much wanted a baby. A few months before our fourth anniversary "Sir William" entered our lives. Six weeks early and taking total control of our world in his tiny little fist. Nine years later and I could not imagine life without our "Sir William". He is an amazing little boy and super cute. Loving, generous, happy, smart and determined. I can't wait to see what he does with his life. So, happily ever after continues... Life is not always a fairy tale but the good far outweighs the bad and I consider that a success.

Greetings
Hello world. I'm Trish and it is very nice to meet you. For sometime now I have toyed with the idea of starting a blog. You must understand that I am by no means a writer. I do have friends and family who are writers and are very good at it, not me. I will admit that I do envy their ability to take ideas and transform them into funny, interesting and entertaining prose that people are eager to read. Please check out my list of favorite blogs for some of these delightful people. There just might be one or two there to interest you.
Anyway, back to why we are here. I have all these random thoughts and ideas bouncing around in my head and this is my outlet for getting them to move on. You may find them to be odd, quirky, funny, thoughtful or any other adjectives that are out there. That's OK. I do not expect everyone to like or agree with what I come up with. It would be awesome if at least one person enjoys reading my musings. You can expect to see many random and eclectic thoughts on here. I hope you enjoy at least a few and will come back to read more.
So, come on back to visit. Next time I will give you a glimpse into my world.
Have a great day!
